The psychological effects of emotion and motivation can help people to achieve their needs. Psychology primarily recognizes seven emotions: anger, disgust, fear, surprise, contempt, happiness, and sadness. Emotional responses are the internal or external response to an event. Two responses can include the adaption-level phenomenon and relative deprivation. The adaption-level phenomenon is related to the emotion of happiness. The phenomenon is when a person judges various stimuli in comparison with experiences of their past. People learn to adapt to new situations through this phenomenon and learn to display a neutral emotion based on past incidents. When a person receives a pay increase, they soon become neutral to the increase and may even become dissatisfied. Unlike adaption-level, relative deprivation is explained when a person perceives that they are worse o ff than those they compare themselves against. Luckily for us, every great story a hero must have a villain. However, the villain in this story is unique from your typical villain, he does things behind the scenes to make him appear trustworthy. I think this scene is a great depiction of Iago using his intelligence of word use to manipulate one of the characters. Iago manipulates Roderigo into trusting him, thus, showing Iago he can take advantage by pretending to help â€Å"I could never better stead thee than now (P.546).† This shows Roderigo that Iago cares about his well being and doesn’t want him committing suicide or â€Å"drowning†.
